MORRISTOWN TOWNSHIP ANNUAL MEETING
Tuesday, March 11, 2003
 8:30 P.M.

1. The annual meeting was called to order by Del Voegele, Clerk at 8:30 p.m.

2. Motion was made by Dan Heyer to nominate Ed Fritz as Annual Meeting Moderator.  Second
    by Dan Morris.  Motion carried. 

    Fireman's Report was given by John Schlie ( Fire Chief.)  He reviewed the Morristown Fireman’s statement.  He stated that the department had 115 fire calls in 2002 for their service area with 18 fire calls in the Morristown section -- 5 in the city, 10 rural and 3 mutual aided. He stated the fire department has hired 5 new people for first responders making a total of 11 first responders. He also stated because of 9/11/01.Training has intensified and of course it cost money to train people, thus the increase  in the fire service fee. 
    Tory Dahle moved to except the Fire Department report Dan Timm second Motion carried 
    unanimously.

4. Clerk's report of the 2002 Annual meeting was read by Clerk, Del Voegele. Dan Timm moved 
    to except the Clerks report as is second by Dan Heyer.  Motion carried.

5. Treasurer's Report was presented by Faye Golombeski, Treasurer. (Figures are rounded to 
     nearest dollar amount) 2002 beginning balance “ Checking and savings was $194,342.00 with
    receipts of  $275,490.00 and disbursements $257,412.00, ending balance of $237,504.00 – Carl
    Krueger moved to except the Treasurer's Report as is - second by Marten Wegner. 
    Motion carried.

6. Dan Morris gave the annual road and bridge report.  Supervisor Morris stated that “Again”
    the town ship saved a lot of money this year because of the mild winter. Town roads are 
    generally in good shape, but the township has started the rebuilding of an abandon town road 
    by Dahle’s. Also the township excepted a new road “Lakeview Trail” plus the curve by Mrs. 
    Marson will be rebuilt this year.
    Del Voegele Moved to except the road and bridge report Dan Heyer second.  Motion carried.

7. Designate:

    A.  Legal Paper -  Faribault Daily News as the 2003 legal paper for the township.

    B. Legal Depository – Lake Country Community Bank

    Motion made by Troy Dahle to designate the Daily News as the Legal news paper and 
    the – Lake Country Community Bank as the depository. Seconed by Dan Timm
    Motion carried. 

8. Set 2004 Levies.
          A. Proposed Y-03 Levies as recommended by the Board of Supervisors are as follows:

    Carl Krueger made motion to accept the 2004 levies as printed above. Troy Dahle second.
    Motion carried unanimously. 

9. Set time of 2004 Annual meeting.  Polls must be open from 5-8 p.m. with next year's Annual
    meeting after the Polls close, at 8:30 p.m., thus giving time to tabulate the votes and declare
    the election results at the annual meeting. 

    Dan Morris made motion to have the 2003 polls open from 5-8 p.m.  Annual meeting will be
    held 2nd Tuesday in March at 8:30 following the close of the polls. 
    MartenWagner second.    
    Motion carried. 

10. Election Results:

    Supervisor 3 year term:     Dan Heyer  42 votes
    Write-ins >                         Gerald Bauer 8 votes

    Supervisor 1 year vacancy:     Carl Krueger 30 votes
                                                        Edward Fritz 23 votes
    No write-ins

    Treasurer 2 year term            Faye Golombeski 47 votes 
    No write-ins
     
    Total Number of voters – 53

     Dan Morris moved to except the election results reelecting Dan Heyer as the supervisor 
     ( 3 year term - Carl Krueger ( 1 year supervisor ) and Fay Golombeski as Treasurer.   2nd by
     Dan Heyer - Motion carried unanimously. 

11.       Reminder:  Monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of each month,excluding
            holidays or days the Government declares no meetings shall be held. ( The meeting will
            then  be held on the next Monday. )  The meetings are scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. 
           Any change of meeting time or place shall be published in the legal paper.

12. Dan Morris reported that the township paid $100,000 dollars for a renewable 20 year lease in
      the new Morristown Town Hall. Troy Dahle said the New community center will be open for 
      the fireman’s dance in April 2003

13. 2003 Annual Meeting was attended by the following individuals: Troy Dahle, Danny Timm, 
      Faye Golombeski, Del Voegele, Dan Heyer, Steve Nordmeier, Ed Fritz, John Schlie, Carl 
      Krueger, Marten Wagner, and Dan Morris

14. Dan Morris made motion to adjourn the meeting. Dan Heyer second.  Motion carried.  The 
      2003 Annual Meeting of Morristown Township was adjourned at 9:09 p.m
