MORRISTOWN TOWNSHIP ANNUAL MEETING
Tuesday, March 13, 2001
 8:30 P.M.



1. The annual meeting was called to order by Del Voegele, Clerk at 8:30 p.m.

2. Motion was made by Don Wegner to nominate Troy Dale as Annual Meeting Moderator.  Second by Arnold   Kuball.  Motion carried.

3. Fireman's Report was given by Ernest Nordmeier.  He reviewed the Morristown Fireman’s statement.  He stated that the department purchased new hoses and a new base radio among other normal operating equipment as needed.
There have been no fire calls yet this year, but the rescue squad was dispatched 14 times to date.
Don Wegner moved to except the Fire Department report Arnold Kuball second Motion carried unanimously.

4. Clerk's report of the 2000 Annual meeting was read by Clerk, Del Voegele. Ernest Nordmeier moved to except the Clerks report as is second by Danny Timm.  Motion carried.

5. Treasurer's Report was presented by Faye Golombeski, Treasurer. (Figures rounded to nearest dollar amount)2000 beginning balance was $75,633.00.  $144,124.00 receipts, $144,407.00 disbursements, ending balance of $75,350.00.  The Township currently has 4 CD's totaling $155,000.00. Danny Timm made motion to accept the Treasurer’s report as given. Ernest Nordmeier second.  Motion carried.

6. Dan Morris gave the annual road and bridge report.  Supervisor Morris stated that the town roads are in good shape, but we need a new 60" culvert on 270 St. and some major road work by Rutz's. Danny Timm asked about Tegmier creek Supervisor Morris stated it was O.K. Ernest Nordmeier made motion to accept the road and bridge report as given.  Danny Timm  second.  Motion carried.

7. Designate:
A. Legal Paper - Don Wegner made a motion to designate the Faribault Daily News as the 2002 legal paper for the township. Danny Timm seconded, no discussion Motion carried.

B. Legal Depository - Dan Morris made a motion to designate The State Bank of Morristown as the Township’s legal depository, Arnold Kuball second.  Motion carried.

 8. Set 2002 Levies.
A. Proposed 2002 Levies as recommended by the Board of Supervisors are as follows:

   Total              134,226.56                      139,260.06     3.75% increase
 

Don Wegner question why the Township was increasing the levies. Supervisor Morris stated that it was mainly to keep up with inflation, road maintenance cost have increased. ( Grading and gravel are more and we have a couple of major projects we should do.) Don Wegner made motion to accept the 2002 levies as printed above. Ernest Nordmeier second.                    Motion carried unanimously.

9. Set time of 2002 Annual meeting.  Polls must be open from 5-8 p.m.  Proposal of Supervisors to hold next year's Annual meeting after the Polls close, for example; to hold the annual meeting at 8:30 p.m., thus giving time to tabulate the votes and declare the election results at the annual meeting.

Dan Morris made motion to have the 2002 polls open from 5-8 p.m.  Annual meeting will be held 2nd Tuesday in March at 8:30 following the close of the polls.  Danny Timm second.         Motion carried.

10. Election Results:
Supervisor:     Aronald Kuball 16 votes no write-ins
   Treasure:      Faye Golombeski 17 votes no write-ins

Dan Morris moved to except the election results Nancy Morris 2nd Motion carried.

11. Other Business - Dan Morris Informed everyone that Timm's Trucking is seeking Annexation to              the city and possibly a site for the Lutheran school and Meyer's.

12. Reminder:  Monthly meetings are held on the second Monday of each month, excluding holidays or days the Government declares no meetings shall be held.  The meetings are scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m.  Any change of meeting time or place shall be published in the legal paper.

13. Troy Dale reported that the new Morristown Town Hall was still in the planning phase and was expected to cost 1.2 million. The hope is to rent it out for wedding receptions meeting places etc. so it will pay for itself. They are still shooting for spring of 2001.

14.  2001 Annual Meeting was attended by the following individuals: Ernest Nordmeier, Troy Dale, Danny Timm, Don Wegner, Nancy Morris, Mr. & Mrs. Arnold Kuball, Faye Golombeski, Del Voegele, Dan Heyer, and Dan Morris

15. Dan Heyer made motion to adjourn the meeting, Ernest Nordmeier second.  Motion carried.  The 2001 Annual Meeting of Morristown Township was adjourned at 9:15 p.m
